Earthworks Project

The project aimed to repair and update Evaporation Ponds in the Acid Rock Drainage Facility to reduce seepage, enhance pond integrity, and provide operational and environmental improvements.

The scope of work included the following:

• Rip, moisture condition and compact existing subgrade within each EP 2 and 3
• Construct embankment widening sections within the southern corners of EP 2 & 3
• Excavate anchor trenches for the BGM liner
• Place and weld BGM liner on the surface of the EP floor, on batter slopes and install
• Backfill anchor trenches for the BGM liner including backfill of anchor trench on the southern crest
• Reinstall the Southern Header Discharge Pipe on the Southern crest of the EP2 & 3, including fixing of the pipelines
• Installation of access track crossing
